Sustainable development

Concerned by its impact on environment and society, Hotel Chateau Laurier Quebec has, since 2009, a Sustainable Development Policy covering every sphere of activity. Since then, Hotel management formed a Green Committee made up of representatives from different sectors of the establishment. It ensure the implementation of programs including:

Eco-friendly events

Eco-friendly packages for eco-responsible business events are available for every business client. In addition, there’s the possibility to plan “Green” private events, if requested weddings, anniversaries, nominations, balls, banquets, etc.,

The conference “Organizing a successful event: The choices that make the difference,” is a great example, considering the fact that it won the 2013 Vivat, Loto-Québec Price for responsible events in the Food category.

The 4 Green Keys program

As an enterprise, Hôtel Château Laurier Québec is committed to its social responsibility and agrees to improve its environmental and fiscal performances through the 4 Green Keys program.

Healthy Environment

In order to settle their principals inside their very own installations, Hotel Chateau Laurier Quebec placed Recycling bins for paper, cardboard, glass and metal on various floor. A rigorous management about how water is used is in place: sanitation, landscape watering, maintenance of the pools saltwater, water coolers instead of bottled water, and environmentally friendly, bio-engineered cleaning products made in Quebec. There’s also efforts made on energy saving with low-watt light bulbs and making sure empty rooms and other hotel spaces always have their lights and heating off when not in use. There was also an installation of a garden and urban hives made on the roof. Finally, the participation at “Earth Hour” of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is now an annual tradition.

Eco-friendly cuisine

The chef at the George V, our hotel’s caterer, favors organically grown and seasonal products and products made here in Quebec. He is also a connoisseur of fine cooking herbs from his very own plot in the hotel’s Four Seasons garden.

A fair social conscience

We pass along our used furniture, surplus bedding, bath and shower fixtures and other fittings that do not meet 4-star hotel standards to local organizations, including women’s centers, Maison Lauberivière, Patro Roc-Amadour, Saint-Vincent de Paul society, Maison Dauphine, and others. Our hotel room’s bedding, curtains and furniture are made in Quebec.
